All in Indian Navy's R-Day Tableau is What Called As 'National Power'

It's not a task you can not perform but certainly it's a fierce competion amongst forces to win the award of best marching contingent. Lt. Cdr Aparna Nair, who is leading this year's naval contingent wakes up barely three hours past mid night and have breakfast at 3:30 am, a time you and I are fast asleep in our bed. Then they move on to have practice march for another 14 Kms. Lets listen in what Lt Cdr Aparna is to say in this video sound bites. 

Marching Contingent

The Naval marching contingent of 144 young sailors, would be led by Lt Cdr Aparna Nair as Contingent Commander and Lt Mandar Kulkarni, Lt Tanu and Lt Vasu Yadav as Platoon Commanders.

Naval Band

The world renowned brass band of the Indian Navy would be led by Ramesh Chand, Master Chief Petty Officer (Musician)- 1^st Class, playing the tune ‘Jai Bharti’. Ramesh Chand would have the privilege of leading the Naval band at Rajpath for the “Nineteenth Time” time in succession-an unmatchable feat.

Indian Navy Tableau

In keeping with the Indian Navy’s Theme for the year 2017, “Indian Navy- Professional Force- Anchoring Stability, Security and National Prosperity”, the tableau would proudly illustrate the multi-dimensional Indian Navy- the net maritime security provider in the Indian Ocean Region.

The Tableau would showcase the lethal Marine Commandoes proceeding for action. It would also depict the indigenously built Kolkata class destroyer, flanked on either side by soon to be commissioned, Kalvari Class next generation attack submarines.

The Submarine Arm of Indian Navy is celebrating its Golden Jubilee this year and therefore as tribute to the glorious service rendered by the Sword Arm, CNS has declared 2017 as the Year of Submarines.

In the last Fifty years, the Submarine Arm has grown formidably, and with the induction of strategic assets in the Navy’s Armada, the Submarine arm has transformed from being the ‘Sword’ Arm to ‘Sword and the Shield’ Arm of the Indian Navy.

Additionally, the tableau would display a model of the P-8I Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft which has immensely enhanced the surveillance capability of the Indian Navy. "Naval warfare has three dimensions and induction of P-8I has really enhanced the air warfare dimension. We have capability to detect any underwater submarine", said Cmde Deepak Bajpai, Principal Director Air Wafare and Flight Safety while speaking to NationalDefence.

Golden Jubilee of Indian Navy’s Submarine Arm-2017

A little over 49 years ago, on the 8^th of Decemeber 1967, on a cold and blustery morning in Russua, the Indian National Flag was hoisted on INS Kalvari, a Foxtrot class submarine, INS Kalvari was India’s first submarine and heralded the era of sub-surface operations in the Indian Navy. Over the last five decades, the Submarine fleet, also known as the Indian Navy’s Sword Arm has been the vanguard of India’s maritime might. The submarine arm is decorared with one Maha Veer Chakra , Two Veer Chakras.

In 2012, with induction of INS Chakra, a Russian origin Akula class Nuclear Submarine, the Indian Navy joined the elite circle of Nuclear Submarine, the Indian Navy joined the elite circle of Nuclear Submarine operating nations. Trials of the indigenous Nuclear Ballistic Missile Submarine Arihant are in advance stages. With the nuclear deterrence provided by these lethal platforms, the Sword Arm is now also the Shield Arm.

Year 2017 is thus the Golden Jubilee Year of the Indian Navy’s Submarine fleet, and has been declared as ‘Navy’s Year of the Submariner’. A number of professional activities, seminars and cultural events have been planned to commemorate the occasion throughout the year, culminating with award of coulours by the President of India to INS Virbahu, the mother base of all submarines.

The motto for the Golden Jubilee Year- Dive – Deter- Destroy- encapsulates the essence  of submarine operations. The Indian Navy tableaux for Republic Day Parade this year depicts the latest Kalvari class attack submarines, due for commissioning in the Golden Jubilee Year.
