ICG Ship C-156ON Commissioned At Porbandar

Indian Coast Guard Ship C-156, built by M/s Bharti Ship
Yard, Goa was commissioned on 12 Mar 2016 at Porbandar by GR Aloria, Chief Secretary, Gujarat
in presence of Inspector General VS Pathania, TM, Coast Guard Commander (NW)
and other distinguished guests from various Central and State agencies.
The 27.65 meters long boat with 107 tones can achieve a
maximum speed of 35 knots. The vessel is fitted with state of-the-art
navigation and communication With the commissioning of ICGS C-156, the force
level of Indian Coast Guard has gone up exponentially. The induction is part of
ongoing effort by the Coast Guard to strengthen coastal security along the
Indian coastline. The commissioning of Coast Guard ship will strengthen the
security umbrella over 1600 km long coast of Gujarat. It will also help to augment
patrolling and prevent illicit activities such as infiltration, smuggling and
illegal fishing.
ICGS C-156 shall be based at Pipavav under the
Administrative and Operational Control of the Commander Coast Guard Region
(North -West).
