NationalDefence.In, New Delhi, 3 April 2016
Top IAF fighter pilots' team left Jamnagar airbase to participate in high voltage Air Exercise code named "Red Flag". The IAF team comprising 4 Sukhoi-30mki, 4 Jaguar fighters, 2 C-17 Globemaster and 2 IL-78 mid air refuellers will travel 1900 km via Bahrain, Egypt, France, Portugal and Canada before reaching Alaska.
The exercise beginning 28 April to 13 May 2016 is likely to sent shock waves to China as it symbolises growing Indo-US strategic relationship.
A total of 202 IAF personnel with 71 officers participating in the high voltage exercise. The last Red Flag exercise cost Indian Air Force about 100 crore rupees. The exercise lends IAF pilots an opportunity to hone their skills in a network centric war scenario without actually going to war.
