Army Chief General Bipin Rawat Responds To Crisis Created By Yagya Pratap Singh Video In Longest Ever Press Conference
New Delhi, 14 January 2017
Army Chief General Bipin Rawat took strong cognisance of the grievances raised by an Army jawan, Yagya Pratap Singh in a video message. He responded to questions raised by media after a video highlighting the plight of the jawan surfaced. We have
'Sahayak' system in army where sahyak is buddy of the officer, so buddy has
charter of duty to clean belts & boots... But Yagya Pratap was never a
shayak, he was a driver...He is airing grievances on behalf of other
sahayaks.... We have 12 lac force, so there can be grievances of one or the
other...but they should have communicated to its officers.
Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat announces that
'Grievances/ Suggestion Boxes' would be placed at headquarter and command headquarters so that
any soldier who has any grievance can drop envelopes in the box directly to him. Box would be
opened by Army Chief. Complainant should put his name in complaint but name
will remain confidential. "I request soldiers not to take recourse to social
media but directly complain to me....have confidence in senior leadership...if
even then not satisfied then go to other means".
