Boeing India President On Behalf of Industry Thanks Government For 'Strategic Partnership'

Pratyush Kumar, Boeing India President, who is also the member, CII National Defence Committee appreciated the Government's initiative on Strategic Partnership (SP). While addressing the seminar on "Make In India For IAF" he said, "The call of the day is huge thank you and congratulations to Ministry of Defence for reaching the consensus on broad contours of 'Strategic Partnership'. This has been a long time in coming and the breakthrough that has been achieved was the level playing field for private industry to be playing at par with the PSUs". 

"That kind of competition is good for the private industry is also good for the PSUs. This competition makes us better. This makes us sharper. Makes us deliver the best we can", added Pratyush Kumar who is also known as Prat Kumar. 

He also elaborated on his company's partnership with Indian Air Force. He informed that the production of fuselage of Apache helicopter will start in Hyderabad from this year itself. "My company Boeing is very thankful for partnership we have with the Indian Air Force with the amazing performance of C-17 and still in production Chinook Apache helicopters". 

"The fuselage of Apache helicopters will be made in Hyderabad in partnership with Tata where we formed the joint venture last year. The production will start this year. Ultimately for every single Apache, the core of that incredible machine, the fuselage, will be made in  India, manufactured i Hyderabad for the global requirement". 

"That is our journey in Make In India. We have been in Make In India for long time but certainly this accelerated in last three years."

"Being Indian, it was a proud movement for me to fly Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) during Aero Show in Bangalore", said Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa during his address at CII Seminar on Make In India For Indian Air Force (IAF) here at Subroto Park Auditorium held on 23 May 2017.

ACM BS Dhanoa narrated his journey into flying for Indian Air Force.  Forty years back he was trained on aircrafts designed and manufactured in India. He was also an instructor on these ingenuously developed aircrafts like HJT Kiran. Prior to LCA, IAF operated HF-24 Marut through 60s and 80s. Sarang is also on indigenous advance light helicopter. He also remember those 17 pilots and engineers who made supreme sacrifice and lost their lives during the testing of these aircrafts. In the seminar all big defence manufacturing companies' representatives participated.

RRM Dr Subhash Bhambre highlighted the dependence on foreign OEMs for their subsisting components. He insisted on progressively reducing the dependence on foreign manufacturers and develop the capacity ingenuously. He also talked about the initiatives taken by the Government of India for promotion of indigenous defence manufacturing.
