Army Chief's maiden EAC visit proves Gen Bakshi & Gen Rawat are still brothers in arms
NationalDefence Bureau,
New Delhi, 24 January 2016
General Bipin Rawat, Chief of the Army Staff, today
undertook his first visit to the Eastern Army Command (EAC) after taking over as the Army
Chief. Until sometime back, speculations were rife if Lt. General Praveen Bakshi would resign after General Bipin Rawat superseded Gen Bakshi following the Government's decision.
However, Gen. Bakshi who was on leave after Gen Bipin Rawat took over, curtailed his leaves and joined Combined Commanders' Conference in Dehradun. But today's visit not only put down all speculations of rift but proves that both Generals are still brothers in arms. General Rawat in interviews to various media organisations has time and again said that they (Gen Rawat, Gen Bakshi and Gen Hariz) have broken bread together and they have been brothers in arms. He earlier also hoped that both Generals, Lt Gen Bakshi and Lt Gen Hariz would work shoulder to shoulder with him.
